Like new movies, TV shows, music, video games, ect... it's all just gone to hell lately. Seems like media went through a golden age in the 70's - 90's then the 00's weren't too bad, but then everything went to hell in the 10's and it's only been getting worse.

Oh that is definitely what happened with gaming, it's why everything has gotta be online and competitive these days, makes it so people keep buying a bunch of bullchit.
I miss the days when video games were all about making you feel like you were a part of an experience, when they weren't just all focused on trying to cash in on the popular trends.

I think it's always been that way but just been way amped up since the mid 90s, srs. I was a teen in the 90s and it almost seemed like there was a noticeable change in music in '95 after Kurt Cobain died. Seemed like everyone was doing the low sounding verse with a fuzzy hard chorus and everything became formulaic and dumbed/watered down exponentially since.
As far as TV and movies go, kind of the same thing. I haven't watched a new sitcom for many years, and haven't been to the theater in over 10. Movies rely too much on special effects and don't concentrate on plot enough. Every now and again we'll find a new show to latch on to (i.e. keep the Office reruns on in the evenings for background noise) and watch hockey and baseball but really not as into it as I was before.#chaga_gangsta

Kurt Cobain's suicide probably had a notable sociological effect. It's like 'you can be successful, rich, handsome etc and it won't guarantee happiness'. He definitely had more talent than Nickelback or any of the derivative 'post-grunge' where it's like they're almost unwilling to take themselves seriously and the music lacks a lot of bite. Then you had a band like Radiohead who were very talented but wrote depressive music that people just don't always want to listen to.

I still listen to some new music, I think I've seen some new movies as well including foreign movies. Right now video games are the largest sector of the entertainment industry, bigger than movies, sports, tv, or anything else.
More specifically, pc games dominate the market. So that's really where the resources of commercial entertainment are going.
It's kind of like how the novel is not as a big as it used to be, the novel used to be the main form of entertainment and was the main focus for commercial entertainment. That's why people say the best novels are all really old.
Film kind of died as the peak of entertainment when television became popular, and now video games and online video have replaced television.Beans, cleans, gasoline

Most new things just seem to be rushed to try to make the most profits ever rather than giving lots of effort and making sht good/enjoyable

Yeah I'm a kpop brah and I've made the complete transition to kpop media. I listen to their music exclusively and watch their variety shows and sht. So refreshing to see a culture where decency is still at least somewhat relevant in their media. I still play games though; they're getting worse as well but at least the degradation of gaming is a slow process so still lots to enjoy out there. Got gamepass and have been hhnnggging at Gears 5 and Forza lately.
