Rajasthan: Quack runs 30-bed hospital in Barmer village, arrested

JAISALMER: After getting repeated complaints of a quack running a 30-bed fake hospital, Barmer SDM Kusumlata sealed it and arrested him.
The SDM received a complaint on May 15 that a fake hospital was functioning at Kuseep village under Siwana police station area putting people’s lives at risk. She asked the area Patwari to go to the village and inspect. Kusumlata reached the spot with a revenue team later after getting information from the patwari.
Kusumlata said when she went there, she saw a fake doctor was treating people by putting 30-35 beds in a tent flouting Covid guidelines. At the spot Rajender Singh Solanki was seen treating patients for Covid. The makeshift fake hospital even had an oxygen cylinder.
When she started taking action, the quack started threatening her and told that he had cured more than 200 patients and she should thank him.
Solanki claimed that he was a doctor and had a degree and license to operate the hospital in his name. He started misbehaving with SDM following which she informed police. Siwana police and BCMO Sanjay Sharma reached the spot. They checked the hospital and asked for license and degree which Solanki could not provide.
In another case, a quack was found treating patients at Khara Mahechan Bhawan. The quack was not only administering drips to patients, but was working as a doctor carrying a stethoscope and blood pressure measuring equipment. Seeing the investigating officer, he ran away and the team of the health department sealed the shop.
