PRAYAGRAJ: For the past four days, not a single body was buried in sand or immersed in rivers at Phaphamau ghat, said city mayor Abhilasha Gupta ‘Nandi’ while inspecting the ghat here on Thursday.
She also added that a strict vigil is being maintained on the ghats and teams of
SDRF and Jal Police are constantly maintaining a close eye on ghats.
The mayor along with committee members had gone to inspect Phaphamau ghat and ensured that bodies were neither buried in sand nor floated in the river.
The mayor said, “A team of eight policemen along with personnel of SDRF are maintaining at close watch at Phaphamau ghat alone. Besides, police teams were also guard at Shringverpur and Chatnaag ghats.”
Apart from
Prayagraj, police teams are also maintaining a close watch at Kada Dham ghat on the banks of
Ganga in neighbouring Kaushambi district.
Senior police officials also claimed that joint teams of Jal Police, PAC (flood control) and
State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed for patrolling of river banks to ensure neither bodies are immersed in the Ganga and
Yamuna, nor is any body buried in the sand on the river banks and ghats in all four districts of the range including Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh and Fatehpur.
“Joint teams are patrolling Chatnaag, Phaphamau and Shringverpur ghats round the clock and keeping strict vigil in Prayagraj,” said IG (Prayagraj range), KP Singh adding, “A police team has also been also deputed at Kada Dham ghat in Kaushambi district to maintain a strict eye.”
