PSL 2021: PCB confirms to Insidesport, “PSL going ahead but foreign players on national duty not available”- The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally got the green signal from UAE government to conduct the remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL 2021) matches in Abu Dhabi.
Speaking exclusively to Insidesport, a PCB spokesperson revealed about the availability of foreign stars for the remainder of the tournament. He also discussed the tentative schedule and the chances of entry of fans. Read the full interview below to know.
Q. With the PSL 2021 now confirmed, when can we expect the schedule for the same?
PCB. The revised tournament schedule and other details will be finalised at this afternoon’s online call with team owners and probably announced on Friday.
Q. Most of the PSL 2021 broadcast crew is from India and Indians are restricted to the UAE. So how will the board manage this?
PCB. The UAE government, on the request of the PCB, has given exemptions to the Indian nationals involved in the HBL PSL 6 and will be allowed entry in the Abu Dhabi under certain conditions, including chartered flight and 10-day room isolation upon arrival in designated hotels.
Q. It is good news for the fans all over the world, would fans be allowed in the stadium in Abu Dhabi?
PCB. No, fans will not be allowed inside the venue
Q. Will foreign players for the remainder of PSL 2021? How is PCB planning to manage their travel arrangements?
PCB. Most of the foreign players are available except those who are presently involved in international cricket. Final squads are also expected to be confirmed by the weekend. Teams, with the support of PCB logistics, is finalising their travel arrangements
Q. Are you hiring GPS tracking, as IPL did last year for a more secure Bio-Bubble?
PCB. The PCB has already appointed Restrata, which will devise, oversee and manage the delivery of bio-secures at the venue and team hotels.
Q. IPL 2021 got suspended and BCCI went through a loss of 3500 crore and the same happened with PSL. Did PCB go through any financial loss?
PCB. Not valid as the remaining HBL PSL 6 matches are now taking place. However, the PCB will pick up the incremental cost so that the teams don’t suffer any additional financial loses.
