LUCKNOW:
BJP national vice-president and party's Uttar Pradesh in-charge
Radha Mohan Singh on Wednesday mounted a scathing attack on the opposition accusing it of weakening the battle against coronavirus pandemic by peddling rumors.
He also claimed that the BJP government will be able to complete the vaccination programme by the year end.
Singh said that while Prime Minister
Narendra Modi and chief minister
Yogi Adityanath have been taking every possible step to step up the health care system, the opposition, essentially the
Congress and
Samajwadi Party, have been engaging in petty politics.
“Neither the people nor history would ever forgive the opposition leaders,” he said.
The BJP leader's statement came in the midst of a row over a toolkit, which the saffron party has been claiming to be designed by the Congress to dent the image of PM Modi.
The Congress, however, has vehemently countered BJP’s charge claiming the toolkit to be a forged document.
The BJP vice-president said that this was not the time to do politics but serve the people.
“This is a time to fight Corona and help the country win over pandemic,” he said.
He hailed PM Modi’s leadership for driving the country's vaccination programme against the lethal virus.
“But the opposition tried to demean the scientists by spreading misconceptions about the quality of vaccines,” he said.
The BJP leader underscored that the oxygen production in the country rose from 5700 tonnes per day in 2020 to 9446 tonnes per day at present.
He said that the government was in the process of setting up 2,000 more oxygen plants. Singh also stressed that the number of ventilators rose from 20,000 in 2020 to 4,40,000 at present.
