BSF scales up Covid care facilities at its field formations

New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) India’s premier border guarding force BSF has scaled up Covid Care Centres including upgrading its facility by setting up 20 oxygen beds, out of which 10 beds are at Covid Care Centre Chhawla and 10 beds are at Tigri Covid Care Centre in Delhi.
“All these 20 beds have been connected with oxygen and multipara monitors. One bed each at CCC Tigri as well as Chhawla is attached with bi-pap machine and 02 each are having ventilators. Apart from this, CCC Chhawla is also having 30 standalone oxygen beds”, the officials in the Force said.
The Tigri centre is having 10 standalone oxygen beds. As such, in total we have 60 oxygenated beds to manage the seriously ill patients of the force and their dependent family members, including retirees. We are also in the process of setting up two mini oxygen plants in aforesaid locations for ensuring seamless supply of oxygen to the patients, an official privy to this development said, adding that the above facility is in addition to the already available facilities at 182 bedded CCC at its Training Centre at 25 Battalion at Chhawla Camp.
A number of Covid Care Centres (level-l facility) are functioning under various BSF command formations and besides these, eight 50 bedded Composite Hospitals and two 100 bedded hospitals have been designated as level-II Dedicated Covid Health Centres.
BSF has set up more than 900 Multiple Quarantine Centres and Covid testing facilities for BSF troops at the BOPs and those deployed for law and order and other related duties with the field units.
To further contain and prevent the spread of Covid infections, 49 Vaccination Centres have also been established at various locations of BSF, the Force spokesperson said.
In addition, a 24 X 7 Helpline has been made functional in Delhi for tele-consultation with doctors and to provide necessary medical guidance to fight the menace. This round the clock facility is providing telemedicine consultation, supply of general medicines and ambulance services to the Serving and Retired BSF personnel and their family members, he added.
Apart from all these, BSF formations and Battalions at different locations have been very prompt and diligent in providing necessary help and aids to needy population living on border or nearby BSF Camps and Establishments. They have been provided with rations, food packets, sanitizers, soaps, masks, medicines and other medical aids.
Comprehensive COVID-19 Awareness programs were initiated by BSF for community awareness at all levels through social media, banners, pamphlets, public announcement systems and with the help of local public representatives and eminent people. BSF also became part of Jan Andolan of COVID-19 Awareness programs which was initiated by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and monitored by Ministry of Home Affairs at National level.
Own troops who recovered from Covid donated their convalescent plasma at different locations of country, saving precious lives. 20,730 BSF personnel have so far been infected by this virus but 19,094 numbers have recovered from this virus setting the recovery rate at 92.1%. As on 18 May 2021 we have only 1,551 active cases with 2,19,225 personnel vaccinated with 1st Dose and 1,78,060 personnel vaccinated with 2nd Dose till date.
