Puri, May 19 (UNI) Few vegetable vendors, two Police personnel and a scribe were injured in
a clash between the police and the vegetable vendors at Badasankha vegetable market today.
The incident occurred when police allegedly manhandled a vendor selling vegetables in
Badasankha vegetable market violating the covid guidelines.
Badasankha vegetable market was closed by the administration to contain the spread of
covid.
Many vendors opposed the police action leading to a tussle in which a number of vendors
and two police personnel were injured. One scribe was also injured in police attack.
The Journalists of the town condemned police attack on scribe while covering the incident
and demanded legal action against the erring police personnel
Vegetable vendors argued that closing the Badasankha market without giving any alternative
place is injustice and said their families were starving . Residents also came out in support of
the vendors.
Senior police officers rushed to the spot and defused the tension .
Puri SP K.Vishal Singh asked the Additional SP to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
