CHENNAI: Sterlite Copper, part of the Vedanta group, will resume oxygen production at its industrial complex at Tuticorin from Wednesday. The first truck, loaded with liquid oxygen, is likely to leave the premises before Wednesday evening. Oxygen production, that began last week, was halted due to a technical glitch. It was rectified on Saturday by an ISRO team. Later, Sterlite restarted the process of oxygen production and it needed 3-4 days to reach the stage to start loading oxygen on to tankers. Once the production stabilises from Wednesday, the company is likely to start filling cylinders with medical oxygen and cater to the needs of smaller hospitals. The company, which has a capacity to produce 1,050MT of oxygen, is trying to identify a business partner to "study and provide solution" to transport 800MT gaseous oxygen to states.
