Safaricom raises controlling stake in Ethiopian licence bidder to 56%

Kenyan operator Safaricom has raised its controlling stake in Global Partnership for Ethiopia, the consortium that has made a bid for one of two telecom licences there, to 56 percent from the 51 percent announced previously, The Business Daily reported. Details of the consortium's latest ownership structure were disclosed by Vodacom Group, which owns 34.9 percent of Safaricom.
