Srinagar, May 19 (UNI) Police on Wednesday destroyed poppy cultivation spread over 27 kanals of land in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.
A police spokesperson said that continuing its efforts to root out the menace of drugs, police has launched an extensive drive to destroy illegal poppy cultivation in Anantnag.
“Police party of Police Station Srigufwara led by SHO PS Srigufwara along with revenue and excise departments destroyed illegal poppy cultivation spread over 27 kanals of land in Badroo and Liver villages of Anantnag,” he said.
He said general public of these areas have appreciated the action of police and have urged the authorities to continue this drive in nearby areas also.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law,” he added.
