Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas raise Rs 22 crore for COVID-19 aid, procure 500 oxygen concentrators, 422 oxygen cylinders, and more

Thousands of miles away in London, desi girl Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who was busy shooting for her next Hollywood series took it upon herself to raise funds for India as the second wave of COVID-19 wreaked havoc in our lives. She and her husband Nick Jonas, in association with a crowdfunding platform, have now managed to raise $3 million, which is Rs 22 crore in Indian currency. Priyanka has now shared that her fundraiser has achieved its goal and the funds have been used to procure oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators and hire manpower. She shared the update with her followers on her Instagram stories. Giving accountability of how the funds are being utilised, the actress shared that the foundation has been able to procure 500 oxygen concentrators which is providing oxygen supply to more than 2500 patients every month. She also said that they have been able to purchase 422 oxygen cylinders and hire manpower for 10 vaccination centres. The 38-year-old actress thanked everyone for their generous donations. Amid running their philanthropic initiatives, Priyanka's husband Nick Jonas, recently got injured on the sets of a television show he was part of. According to reports, he suffered a minor injury and had been hospitalised for the same. However, a day later, he came back home and resumed the shoot for his singing reality show. Meanwhile, every day brings further reconfirmation that the second wave of COVID-19 in India is likely to wreak havoc for a long time. India is presently in the grips of a public health emergency with frantic calls for help for beds, medicines, oxygen cylinders, essential drugs and tests coming in from every part of the country. During such trying times, our Bollywood celebrities have stepped up and are extending their support as India's fights COVID-19. Actor turned philanthropist Sonu Sood is leading the way in helping people amid the coronavirus pandemic, transporting sick patients, providing beds, medication, other resources and encouraging people to get vaccinated, besides running many helpful initiatives for the benefit of the common man.
