Chhattisgarh: He works from field to ensure common man doesn’t have to

RAIPUR: When most of the official instructions are being issued via video conference and over phone calls, a young corporator has come out on the field to ensure no one in his ward goes to sleep empty stomach, apart from calling for 100% vaccination. Since the lockdown was imposed, Akash Tiwari, 36, corporator of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla ward, with his team of ‘Super 30’ has been working relentlessly to address issues of a common man from ground-level. He is covering areas booth-wise to encourage people to get vaccinated, a strategy followed during elections.

Since the lockdown was imposed, Akash Tiwari, 36, corporator of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla ward, with his team of ‘Super 30’ has been working relentlessly to address issues of a common man from ground-level. He is covering areas booth-wise to encourage people to get vaccinated, a strategy followed during elections.

Residents say, no one returns empty handed from his door and the porch of his house is often packed with boxes full of ration or fruit items to be distributed among people of his ward. Inspired by his initiatives, many peple are even donating their bit to make the change happen. Recently a widow donated her pension. The ward has over 2000 people under BPL and Tiwari`s team is taking outmost care that the needy are given all possible assistance.

Despite losing a family member to Covid 19, the 36-year-old Akash Tiwari, corporator of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla ward is trying to ensure 100 percent vaccination by going boothwise strategy, followed during elections. Since the lockdown imposed in state, Tiwari has been delivering dry ration, eggs, fruits, vegetables to thousands of houses in his ward.

He even lost a family member to Covid. “Challenging times of Covid has hit soon after I took oath as corporator and my team of 30 volunteers have not only donated money and their services, but are doing all to serve people. People feel so inspired that even women, widows, are contributing their pension for the cause. I try to ensure not a single person coming to me seeking any kind of help should go empty handed and I don`t want anyone in my ward to sleep empty stomach," Tiwari said. Not only this, Tiwari and team is on toes throughout to ensure that families of Covid deceased do not face any trouble in cremation-related formalities.

There are many people stuck in the region due to lockdown and couldn`t go back to their natives, and Tiwari said that they have become his priority and he`s ensuring their stay, food and other needs. A resident Ravi Rathi said that the corporator works like any other responsible officer for the ward. “When my father expired due to Covid and we all at home were infected, Tiwari was there to take care of everything. He ensured shifting the body to crematorium, funeral, our medicines and everything. Everyone in the ward knows they are being taken care of."
