Dr Mala v Kaneria who is a consultant at Jaslok Hospital and Research Center spoke regarding this fungal disease in an interview. She said, “Mucormycosis is an uncommon infection and this is caused by mold which belongs to the family of Mucorales. This fungus is present everywhere and occurs mostly by inhalation through which it enters the sinuses and lungs, or it can enter the body if a person has a burn, cut or abrasion on the skin. ”

The main risk which we have with this infection is that uncontrolled diabetes. So, in order to overcome this infection the main thing we need to do is to diagnose it as early as possible.

The main symptoms of this infection were the person will notice a black or bloody discharge from the nose and he might also have a pain, numbness on the face, chest pain and blurred vision.
