The special edition Scrambler 1200 is inspired by the original competition-spec Triumph TR6 ridden by Steve McQueen in the legendary movie, The Great Escape. The actor uses the motorcycle to carry out a jump sequence in the 1963 movie.
The Steve McQueen Edition scrambler motorcycle is based on the brand's top-spec 1200 Scrambler XE variant. However, the special Edition motorcycle receives bespoke cosmetic changes to tell it apart from the standard variant.
This includes the Competition Green painted fuel tank with gold pinstriping around the brushed foil knee pads, gold heritage Triumph logos, brushed aluminium Monza-style fuel cap, and brushed steel tank strap.
The special edition motorcycle also features front and rear fenders also finished in Competition Green, gold-finished front forks, and a single-piece ribbed seat finished in brown. It is also equipped with a radiator guard and crash protection as standard.
The authenticity of the Scrambler 1200 Steve Mcqueen Edition is added by the inclusion of a unique Steve McQueen branding on the fuel tank and handlebar clamp. The special edition motorcycle also comes with a certificate of authenticity containing the VIN of the special edition motorcycle. The certificate is signed by Triumph's CEO, Nick Bloor, and Chad McQueen, son of Steve McQueen.
The Scrambler 1200 Steve Mcqueen Edition is powered by a liquid-cooled, SOHC, parallel-twin, 1200cc engine. It produces a maximum of 89bhp at 7250rpm and a peak torque of 110Nm at 4500rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
