Mumbai: AFCONS has partnered with its consortium partner Halani-Tes-Nauvata to work with the ONGC to refurbish its unmanned foreign platforms in the Arabian Sea post cyclone Tauktae.
The extremely severe cyclonic storm Tauktae, which was allegedly the worst storm in the last five decades, caused damage to several vessels deployed in the Arabian Sea, including an accommodation acre ‘Papaa 305’ (P305).
In a statement, AFCONS stated that the leased acre P305 together with its marine crew is owned and managed by M / s Durmast Enterprises Limited. P305 had 261 people on board when he sent an emergency call after they broke in and flooded on Monday.
P305 has a complete complement to safety equipment, including life jackets and life rafts for all persons on board.
“We believe all staff were safely evacuated before the vessel sank. Despite the extreme sea conditions, 182 members aboard P305 have so far been rescued by the Indian Navy and Coast Guard. An intensive search and rescue operation, including helicopter search operations, is underway to locate and rescue the missing personnel. “All the crews of the other vessels affected by the cyclone are safe and accountable,” AFCONS said.
The AFCONS-led consortium works closely with ONGC, Petroleum Ministry, Indian Navy, Coast Guard and DG (Shipping) to coordinate rescue efforts.
“We will spare no effort to ensure that the missing personnel who were on board P305 are quickly located and rescued, and our thoughts and prayers are with their families during this very difficult time,” he said.
ONGC earlier said in a statement that it was taking all possible measures in collaboration with ODAG (Offshore Defense Advisory Group) and MRCC (Maritime Rescue Coordination Center) to ensure the safety of personnel and vessels.
