There are many die-hard fans of Octavia out there who are waiting for the new generation of Octavia to get launched in our country. The executive sedan was supposed to launch in May. However, due to an increase in the number of coronavirus cases the launch was delayed. Now, Zac Hollis, Director of Skoda Auto India has tweeted that the Octavia will be launching in June’21. He has not yet confirmed the date of the launch.
We will now launch the new Octavia next month. The exact format of the launch is in discussion.

The production of Octavia has already begun and the sedan has also been spied at dealerships. The deliveries of the Octavia will start immediately after the launch as per Zac. The manufacturer will also be announcing the price of the Kushaq mid-size SUV in June 2021 and the deliveries will start in July.
Zac also confirmed that there are no plans to launch the CNG version of the Rapid in the Indian market. He told this information in a tweet when a Twitter user asked Zac about the launch date of the Rapid CNG.
There are no plans for Rapid CNG in India.

Skoda Octavia
This will be the fourth generation of Octavia launching in India. It will be 19mm longer and 15mm wider than the predecessor. This is because of the MQB EVO platform Skoda is using. Having said that the wheelbase of the Octavia is the same as before.
It will now come with a new 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that will also be used on the facelifted version of the Kodiaq. The engine produces 190 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It will be mated to only a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Earlier, the Octavia came with a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that produced 143 PS.
The overall design is now more elegant than the previous generation. It now falls in line with other Skoda sedans like Superb. The split headlamp has been replaced with a conventional single-piece unit that houses a dual projector LED setup. You also get L-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps.
At the side, you will see some cleaner and smoother lines alongside some new alloy wheels. The rear profile is also completely different with new split LED tail lamps.
The cabin is also completely new. The cabin gets black and beige colour theme with soft-touch materials. It comes with a new two-spoke steering wheel with multi-function buttons. There is also a digital driver display and a new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and connected car technology. There will also be an electric sunroof, leather upholstery, three-zone climate control and a virtual assistant.
Skoda Rapid CNG
A CNG version of Rapid was spotted when it was waiting to be refilled at a CNG station. Skoda already sells a Rapid CNG in the international markets. It comes with the same 1.0-litre TSI engine but produces a respectable 89 bhp of max power when running on CNG. When running on petrol the engine produces 109 bhp of max power and 175 Nm of peak torque. This is the same engine that is offered in India. The Rapid starts at Rs. 7.79 ex-showroom.
