PATNA: In a bid to curb the spread of the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in rural areas, the state health department has taken two major decisions, including activating additional primary health centres and opening at least one community kitchen centre in each block for Covid patients. Additional chief secretary (health) Pratyaya Amrit said, "There are 1,451 APHCs across the state. To ensure a proper and timely treatment of Covid patients in the rural areas, a letter has been sent to all DMs and civil surgeons to re-activate the APHCs. Doctors who were deputed at the DCHCs, will report back to their original posting to expedite diagnosis and treatment of patients in rural areas." Concerning the decision to set up one community kitchen centre in every block, Pratyaya said it will be need-based and more centres may be opened as per requirement. He said due emphasis is being laid on vaccination in rural areas where 72% of the vaccination sites are being set up.
