Belagavi, May 19 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Satish Jarkiholi on Wednesday said that Rs 1,250 crore package announced by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa is not sufficient as people are already suffering due to COVID-19-induced lockdown and subsequent crisis.
Addressing a press conference here , the former minister alleged that the ruling BJP government in the State has failed to distribute packages announced last year and asked how will this package reach the needy.
He said that though the Chief Ministers' announcement is a welcoming step, but the money announced was not adequate. Thousands of Covid-19 patients are suffering due to lack of ventilator, oxygen, beds and many other problems, he said.
Mr Jarkiholi alleged that in government hospitals beds and oxygen were not available.
He said as COVID-19 is now spreading in rural areas, the related officials should give more priority and take suitable action in the rural belt.
He demanded that the district in-charge ministers should visit the affected places and work towards curbing the surge the spread of the virus.
