We got to see our first official look of Android 12 at the Google I/O 2021 keynote. It talked about all the new things coming to Android and one of those major aspects is privacy. It has announced a number of privacy features with the goal of keeping Android users safe and secure from possible threats.
Starting with Google Chrome, a new quick delete feature has been introduced. It is a feature that will delete the browser history of the last 15 minutes with just one tap. It can be accessed by visiting the Google account settings. The new option is called "Delete last 15 min" and sits between existing options for "Search history" and "Read aloud".
Google Photos application has been updated with a new Locked Folder. This is a password-protected folder that you can use to store those photos that you do not want anyone else to see. All the photos stored in this folder will be separated from the main gallery so that they do not pop up while you or someone else is scrolling through your gallery. This new feature will first debut on Pixel smartphones and then make its way to other Android devices later as the year will progress.
If you are a regular Google Maps user, you must be aware of the Timeline feature that keeps a track of all the locations you have visited. It can be beneficial for some users but for others, it can be invasive. This is the reason Google has now added location history reminders to the application. These will remind users that their visited locations are getting tracked because they have turned the location history option on. This way, they will be able to turn it off if they do not wish to use the functionality.
