Hyderabad: Medical experts believe that the medication should be treated yourself COVID-19 can be extremely dangerous. In view of the increasing deaths in the second wave of Corona pandemic, experts fear that the majority of people turn to medication instead of going to the doctor or hospital.
The tendency of self-medication increases due mainly to the payment of excessive treatment costs or fear of death.
Similarly, people are afraid to show their symptoms due to unfounded fears. Even in cases of fever, cough, cold and body ache, the patients do not visit doctors and use medicines which, apart from being dangerous, can lead to the spread of the Covid virus among others.
“There are also harmful side effects of self-medication such as digestive issues in patients taking antibiotics or steroids on their own,” said Dr. Rahul Agarwal, consultant for internal medicine at Medicover hospitals, said.
Five days of continuous fever is a sign of Coronavirus and in such a case complacency can spread the infection to the lungs, said dr. Agarwal said.
There are some patients who are concerned about the positive result of their test after 14 days of treatment. The experts believe there is no reason for the patient to panic if a retest is positive. This could be due to the remaining RNA in the nasal mucosa, or it could even be false positive.
In such a case, however, medication is not necessary, as infection after two weeks is highly unlikely. Testing and retesting is a huge waste of resources.
