Basement is 500 sq feet
I think mats for that much area might be expensive but still need to get it
Those puzzle like mats that everyone uses everyone tells me are bad and disconnect frequently
Other ones are expensive
What’s the best solution and mat?

Make sure you buy extra. The sq ft is slightly inaccurate.PS4

I have stall mats under my power rack. That's the gold standard IMO but expensive per sq ft.
Why do you want to put flooring on the entire space OP? I'd just protect the "working" area and call it good.Smooth Seas don't make Strong Sailors. Keep your head up.

This. For my new setup (inside house) I put down plywood over the whole floor to protect the tile, then stall mats in high impact/high PSI areas, and cheap interlocking mats for the rest. Working out pretty well so far, but the room is only about 200 sq ft total. If I had 500 sq ft I would only worry about the actual working areas.

Prepare to cry at plywood prices if you go that route or want to build a platform.
Also just LOL at buying used stall mats. Have fun with your horse piss stained used mats. Many men wish death upon me

Is this sht even comfortable? Those circle things on them feel like they may hurtI don't check my CP, IDC about reps/negs

The other side is flat. They're hard. They're meant to take a beating. You use them where they are needed. Use something a bit softer and cheaper everywhere else.
Edit: to go WeSellMats. They will have what you need for a reasonable price.
Get stall mats to place where you have heavy equipment or where weights might be dropped. I just finished my garage gym, for now. That's the route I went."They don't understand my point of view, don't care about how I see things.
I don't see things their way and that's all that matters.
They attack everything but my defense because they don't want to hear my point.
They are busy populating my world with their ghosts and blaming me for the many little deaths of their lives.".

I was going to point out, my local Home Depot has a wide variety of rubber mats, in varying thickness and area. I personally use the foam puzzle mats but only because I received them as a gift, and only use the under the weights themselves, not to stand on. Those are pretty good for noise reduction if that's an issue.
