Exclamation Best gym floor mats for basement? (Reps)

    Basement is 500 sq feet
I think mats for that much area might be expensive but still need to get it

Those puzzle like mats that everyone uses everyone tells me are bad and disconnect frequently

    Other ones are expensive

What’s the best solution and mat?
I don't check my CP, IDC about reps/negs

Make sure you buy extra. The sq ft is slightly inaccurate.

I have stall mats under my power rack. That's the gold standard IMO but expensive per sq ft.

Why do you want to put flooring on the entire space OP? I'd just protect the "working" area and call it good.

this. I have horse stall mats which are about $60 for a 4x8 sheet new. You can always put a post on facebook marketplace though asking if anyone is selling them so you dont have to buy new

This. For my new setup (inside house) I put down plywood over the whole floor to protect the tile, then stall mats in high impact/high PSI areas, and cheap interlocking mats for the rest. Working out pretty well so far, but the room is only about 200 sq ft total. If I had 500 sq ft I would only worry about the actual working areas.

Prepare to cry at plywood prices if you go that route or want to build a platform.

Also just LOL at buying used stall mats. Have fun with your horse piss stained used mats.

I guess it’s not entire foooring as I do have some rugs

But I do want the entire floor covered as mats are cleaner than tiles I think and I would rather step on those barefoot than the floor/tiles

This is the best option by far. They have a weird sell to them, but they are durable and inexpensive compared to other options. I've always used horse stall mats from Tractor Supply.

The other side is flat. They're hard. They're meant to take a beating. You use them where they are needed. Use something a bit softer and cheaper everywhere else.

Edit: to go WeSellMats. They will have what you need for a reasonable price.

Get stall mats to place where you have heavy equipment or where weights might be dropped. I just finished my garage gym, for now. That's the route I went.

Those are them, yeah. Down here we have a store "rural king" I bought mine from but basically the same. I have 6 of them - four under my power rack and then some "floor space" to deadlift in etc.

Make sure you buy extra. The sq ft is slightly inaccurate.
I was going to point out, my local Home Depot has a wide variety of rubber mats, in varying thickness and area. I personally use the foam puzzle mats but only because I received them as a gift, and only use the under the weights themselves, not to stand on. Those are pretty good for noise reduction if that's an issue.

Horse stall Mats are the best unless you want to spend a lot more on rolled commercial rubber flooring. For a home gym you can’t beat horse stall mats.
