The agenda has outlined five priorities that include respectful and secure work environments; better wage systems; circular systems; efficient use of resources; and smart material choices, GFA said in a media release.
Co-authored by fashion companies like ASOS, Bestseller, Fung Group, H&M Group, Kering, Nike, PVH Corp, Sustainable Apparel Coalition and Target, the publication has put forward a vision statement for the fashion industry, striving for a thriving industry that reverses its impact on climate change and protects biodiversity.
“The Fashion CEO Agenda is designed to inform and guide fashion industry leaders to make the right decisions to enable people and the environment to prosper. Though implementing changes may seem like an uphill battle, we will face grave consequences if we do not act. Leaders have the power and the knowledge to take bold steps now that will determine our future and the lives of future generations,” said Morten Lehmann, chief sustainability officer, GFA.
“Fashion and biodiversity are interlinked, and through ambitious commitments to reduce our collective impacts on nature and shifting to more circular systems, while at the same time protecting and restoring biodiversity, we can reverse the trajectory we are on. Joint agendas like the Global Fashion Agenda, and its Fashion CEO Agenda, can help our industry set goals and reach consensus, which will also help power innovation and the solutions we need to create lasting change,” said Marie-Claire Daveu, chief sustainability officer, Kering.
