Centre assures all help to Goa to restore normalcy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday assured all possible assistance from the central government to restore normalcy in Goa, which has been devastated by cyclone ‘Tauktae’.


Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday disclosed that the Prime Minister called him up personally, enquiring about the impact of the cyclone on Goa. Modi assured all possible assistance from the Centre, Sawant said. The Chief Minister briefed Shah as well on the devastation caused by the cyclone. The Union Home Minister inquired about the widespread destruction caused by the cyclone in the state. Shah assured full support of all central agencies to bring normalcy, Sawant said, adding that the state government will provide all required assistance to the cyclone-hit people of Goa.


PTI ADDS FROM NEW DELHI: The Prime Minister on Monday spoke to the chief ministers of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa besides the lieutenant governor of Daman and Diu regarding preparation and response to deal with cyclone Tauktae.
Modi had on Saturday reviewed the preparedness to deal with the cyclone’s fallout at a high-level meeting which was attended by several ministries and agencies concerned
