Encroachers active as civic bodies get busy | Gurgaon News

Gurgaon: With lockdown in place and key departments like Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Department of town and country planning (DTCP) focusing on Covid 19 duties, land mafia and encroachers are once again active in Gurgaon and Manesar.
The enforcement wing of these departments is getting several ctake overomplaints related to encroachment on government land, mushrooming of illegal colonies and unauthorised construction in licenced colonies.
A senior official said that there has been a spike in complaints related to encroachment and illegal construction. District town planner RS Batth, who was heading the enforcement wing of all the three departments, has been relieved from additional charge of civic body. He said he would now focus on demolition of illegal colonies and construction of unauthorised flats in the colonies.
“Based on the complaints, the enforcement wing is identifying illegal colonies in the city and Manesar and illegal flats in old city and underconstruction buildings in DLF-2 and 3,” he said.
He also said that there have been multiple complaints about construction of illegal flats in old city, which otherwise falls under MCG but town and country planning will act against such illegal flats under Urban Development Act.
“Similarly, there have been complaints about unauthorised construction in licenced colonies. These complaints are mainly from DLF 2 and 3 colonies, the department will soon take action against these properties,” said the officials of DTCP.
