NEW DELHI: Wrestler Sushil Kumar, who is India’s only sportsperson to win two individual Olympic medals, has moved an anticipatory bail plea after being named as an accused in what turned out to be a fatal brawl at the Chhatrasal stadium here, which led to the death of 23-year-old wrestler Sagar Rana — ANI has reported.
The hearing will be in Rohini Court later today.
The latest development comes after a non-bailable warrant was issued against Sushil and six others accused in the case, besides the Delhi Police announcing a reward of Rs 1 lakh for anybody giving information about Sushil’s whereabouts.
Sushil has been absconding ever since an FIR was filed in the case, and a lookout circular has been issued for him.
A reward of Rs 50,000 has also been announced for the arrest of his associate Ajay Kumar.
“We have announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to the arrest of Sushil Kumar and Rs 50,000 on his associate Ajay, who is also absconding in the case,” said a senior police officer.

The police have already recorded statements of some of the other people allegedly involved in the brawl. They allege that Sushil was present at the spot when the clash took place.
The clash apparently happened over the issue of vacating a flat in the Model Town area, police said.
Police have been conducting raids in the Delhi-NCR region and neighbouring states to nab Sushil.
The story has sent shockwaves across the Indian sporting fraternity. Sushil has been one of the big poster boys of Indian sport and distinguished himself with two Olympic medals.
The Wrestling Federation of India had earlier said that the allegations against Sushil have “hurt” the image of Indian wrestling.
