Cyclone Tauktae: Indian Navy undertakes rescue mission, saves lives

As cyclone Tauktae has made a landfall in parts of country, Indian Navy has undertaken the mission of search and rescue operations in coastal regions. INS Kolkata rescued two survivors from the life raft of vessel ‘Vara Prabha’. Indian Navy rescued a person from Barge P305 on May 18 that went adrift in the Arabian Sea near Mumbai in the midst of an approaching cyclone Tauktae. Indian Navy informed that search & rescue ops Barge P305 continued through the night by INS Kochi and INS Kolkata. Offshore Support Vessel Energy Star and Great Ship Ahalya have joined the effort.132 personnel rescued so far in extremely challenging circumstances.
