Olivia Rodrigo burst onto the music scene in early 2021 with her hit single drivers license

The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star spent weeks atop music charts with the breakup song.

The question then became: could she keep the hits coming, or would she lean too heavily on the success of drivers license and spend her time trying to recreate that?

Deja vu was Olivia's second single, with good 4 u (her latest release) following that. With these three tracks alone, Olivia has proven that she cannot be pinned into just one category.

Now, in an interview with NME, the Disney star has promised that her debut album, SOUR, which drops on Friday, will have a different sound than her breakout single.

"I love pop-punk music; I love grunge music; I love country music and folk music. I think, honestly, you can see little influences of all of those genres in my album. And I didn't want to make an entire record that sounded like drivers license. There's no fun in that for me - and probably not for listeners either," she said.

About her songwriting process, the 18-year-old has revealed that she's always been an oversharer.

"I'll tell my Uber driver all of my deepest traumas and insecurities, and so I just think songwriting for me is an extension of that aspect of my personality," she told the publication, adding: "I've never really been so terrified of people learning about the intimate parts of myself; I think that's what makes songwriting so special."
