Twenty one-member Cabinet along with CM to be sworn-in on May 20 in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, May 17 (UNI) A 21-member Cabinet, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, will be sworn-in in Kerala on May 20.

Mr Vijayan has been assigned to allocate portfolios to the Ministers in the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government, CPM State Secretary A Vijayaraghavan said on Monday.

The CPI(M) will get 12 minister posts while 4 ministerial berths will be given to CPI, 1 each for Kerala Congress (M), Janata Dal (S) and NCP, he said.

The Speaker post will be given to the CPI(M), Deputy Speaker post to CPI and Chief Whip post to Kerala Congress (M).

The remaining two ministerial posts will be shared by Janadhipathya Kerala Congress and INL during the first half and Kerala Congress (B) and Congress (S) during the second half of the five-year period.

After the election of the LDF Parliamentary party leader on the evening of May 18,the Governor will be requested for the swearing-in ceremony, he added.

Out of the 140 Assembly seats, the LDF managed to retain power in the state by winning 99 seats and 41 seats bt Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF).

The BJP could not retain its lone seat in the 2021 election.
