Israel-Palestine conflict death toll rises to 208

Gaza, May 17 (UNI) The escalating conflict between Israel and Palestine since May 10 has claimed 208 lives while over 2,000 people have been injured, reports said on Monday.
The death toll comprises of 198 Palestinian casualties while 10 have been killed on Israel side. The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza, said the fatality figure on their side includes 58 minors while the Israeli casualties include a five-year-old boy, a soldier, and two women.
The Israel Defence Ministry says since the start of the hostilities on May 10, they have struck more than 820 ''terror targets'' in Gaza in response to over 3,150 rockets that have been fired from the Gaza Strip into the Israeli territory.
About 460 rockets had misfired and landed in the strip, while the Iron Dome missile defence system has intercepted about 90 per cent of those that had crossed into Israel, the IDF said, adding that over 130 Palestinian terrorists have been neutralised.
Israel on Sunday night carried out major airstrikes in the Gaza Strip which several media reports described as the most intense since fighting erupted a week ago. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue teams continue to search the rubble of buildings in Gaza.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday said the offensive will continue "with full force" and will take "as long as necessary," despite international efforts to broker a truce to quell the deadly flare-up.
