GURUGRAM: The continuing shortage of vaccines means that government facilities in the city will not be inoculating anyone in the 18-44 age group on Monday.
There will be no Covishield sessions for the 45+ population as well. As a result, the city will start the week with just four government sessions of Covaxin for those above 45 years and healthcare and frontline workers will be administered second doses.
Usually, Gurugram vaccinates those above 45 years across 41 session sites and the 18+ population is inoculated at 37 session sites. Apart from this, two private hospitals, Max and Fortis, are also inoculating people.
“We will have session sites at Tigra, Badshahpur, Choma and Manesar primary health centre on Monday for the 45+ category. There are vaccines for frontline and healthcare workers who are supposed to take their second doses and we will continue to inoculate the 18+ population once we get fresh consignment from the state government. We have not received any confirmation about that yet,” said Dr Virender Yadav, the chief medical officer, Gurugram. Only Covaxin will be administered at these four centres, he added.
155 inoculated at drive-through site in CybeHub
On Sunday, 155 people got jabs at the city’s third drive-through site in CyberHub. The facility was only for those who needed their second Covaxin shots. The health department will open another drive-through site at DLF City Centre Mall on MG Road on Monday for people who need their second Covaxin shots.
“We are only carrying out the drive for the second Covaxin dose now,” Yadav added.
On Sunday, a total of 4,061 people in the 18-44 years age group got their first jabs. Of them, 648 people took the shots at private hospitals and 3,413 were inoculated at government facilities. A total of 539 people in the 45+ age group also got vaccinated. A session will be held for journalists at John Hall on Monday.
