Warangal Urban: In a humanitarian gesture, the Warangal police, in collaboration with the Medical and Health Services officials, conducted rapid antigen tests (RAT) for Covid-19 on nearly 150 beggars and needy in the city Monday. While the tests were conducted at the Warangal bus station and Public Garden in Hanamkonda below the GWMC limits, seven beggars and needy tested positive for Covid-19.
Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi, who was at the Public Garden, handed out fruit, meals and masks to the beggars and needy.
In the media, Joshi said they came forward to lead the camp for testing beggars and others in light of the sudden increase in the Covid incidents. ‘People who tested positive for Covid-19 medicine and other necessities are provided. The staff of the health department will regularly monitor the health condition of those in need, ”he added.
Deputy District Officer for Medical and Health (DyDMHO) Yakub Pasha, DCP (Central Zone) Pushpa and others were at the camps.
Meanwhile, Kazipet inspector Ravula Narender, in collaboration with NGOs, handed over meals to about 60 beggars and needy people at the Kazipet Chowrasta and train station because they are suffering from the lockout imposed across the state. These organizations have been handing out packed lunches since the closure was implemented in the state last week.
