A couple of days back, Apple was spotted teasing something on the main Browse tab in the Music application. The teaser reads “Coming soon. Get ready – music is about to change forever.” There is no other detail available in the teaser, but it offered a good indication that Apple has planned something significant to improve the quality of music we listen to on Apple Music.

There have been rumors around that Apple is expected to announce a new lossless audio tier for its music subscription service. So, it is suspected that the spotted teaser indicates its imminent launch.

Later on, sleuths over at 9to5Mac also found some references to ‘Lossless’ and ‘Hi-Res Lossless’ music inside the source code of the Apple Music web app, further indicating that Apple’s spotted teaser is about some high-quality lossless format music.

Past findings from the tech site have also revealed that Apple Music for Android is readying support for two ‘lossless’ bit rates: 24-bit/48kHz and 24-bit/192kHz. The inspection also reveals that the lossless stream will consume up to 36MB of data for a single 3-minute song. The site also tells that the lossless references are next to mentions of ‘Dolby Atmos’ and ‘Dolby Audio.’

Recently, a new rumor mill suggested that Apple could finally unveil the third-gen AirPods on May 18^th, Tuesday. So, it is possible that Apple is teasing about the same upcoming service and product through this banner in the app.

It should be noted that Apple has always unveiled the new generation of its truly wireless earbuds through a simple press release.
