Irish health IT systems remain offline after ransomware attack

The IT systems of Ireland's Health Service Executive (HSE) have been hit by a ransomware attack. The HSE became aware of the breach overnight on Thursday/Friday 13/14 May and reported the incident to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), which activated its crisis response plan. Data on some servers has been encrypted, but the full extent of the problem is not known at this moment.
