Pragya Thakur claims she was not infected by Covid because she regularly consumes cow urines

As the country battling against the Covid second wave, the BJP MP from Bhopal Pragya Thakur once again caught into another controversy, claimed that she was not affected by Covid as she regularly consumes Gaumuta.

A video of Thakur speaking to a gathering has been widely circulated on social media. The MP was not wearing a mask during her address. She was speaking at a function of dedicating oxygen concentrators to the people in Bairagarh.

This is not first time when Thakur has claimed that cow urine cures serious disease. In April 2019, Sadhvi had claimed that gaumutra and panchyagavy helped to cure her cancer.

Thakur’s statement comes at a time when the Indian Medical Association has clearly specified that there is no scientific evidence to prove that cow dung or urine helps with the treatment or prevention of Covid-19.

Thakur had earlier appealed people to recite the Hanuman Chalisa five times a day, which she believes will rid the world of the coronavirus pandemic.

Pragya Thakur was admitted to Delhi’s AIIMS hospital in December 2020 over  Covid-19-induced symptoms.

Earlier this month, a BJP MLA in Uttar Pradesh, Surendra Singh, had claimed that drinking cow urine had protected him from the coronavirus. He also recommended “cow urine with a glass of cold water”.

Last year, when the pandemic was in its early stages, BJP Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh had declared he has no qualm in accepting that he consumes cow urine. He was at an event in Kolkata in which people were urged to drink cow urine to guard against Covid-19.

Criticising her opponents, she said some people were maligning her by saying she was missing. She said that such people were committing crime and should not be pardoned. Pragya said she was unwell and was serving the society from her bungalow in Bhopal.
