Mahira Khan talks about ban on Pakistani artists in India: 'I was scared to take up Indian web shows'

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan who made her Bollywood debut in the year 2017 with Shah Rukh Khan starrer film 'Raees' is known for her impeccable acting skills. However, just before the release of her Bollywood debut film, the total ban on Pakistan-based artists was announced in India due to the bilateral tensions between the countries. As a result, her film 'Raees' was not released in Pakistan and Mahira was not even permitted to promote the film in India. Now, in her recent conversation with an entertainment portal, the actress called the ban on Pakistani artists in Bollywood 'sad'. She said, 'I guess, having experienced it firsthand, it’s just sad. When I think about it… I mean, we have all moved on. That’s what we do, if we don’t have this, we do something else. That’s what happens. But I feel like a great opportunity for the entire subcontinent to come together and collaborate was lost. I think it might happen again. Who knows?' Well, for the unversed, after the deadly Uri attack in September, 2016, the relation between India and Pakistan got deteriorated, post which the All Indian Cine Workers Association announced a total ban on Pakistani actors and artists. The notice issued by the organisation stated that they will take strong action against anyone who works with Pakistani artists. Meanwhile, the stunning actress has been recently roped in for an Indian web project. The actress while opening up on the same confessed that she was 'scared' to take up the Indian web shows. She said, 'A lot of the other series were offered to me and at that time but I was scared. I was genuinely just scared. It wasn’t about what people say, I was just like, I don’t know if I want to go there. And there was some content that was amazing, and I didn’t want to miss out on it. But I was scared and I have no shame in admitting it.'
