South African govt plans to dissolve USAASA in March 2023, set up Digital Development Fund

The government has set March 2023 as the timeframe for the dissolution of the Universal Service and Access Agency of South Africa (USAASA), ITWeb reported. The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) and its entities presented their budgets and annual performance plans for the 2021/2022 financial year to the parliamentary portfolio committee in preparation for the budget votes. DCDT acting director-general Nonkqubela Jordan-Dyani said the timeframe for the dissolution is externally dependent on Cabinet and Parliament.
