Superstar Rajinikanth on Monday met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin at his office in Chennai. As India grapples with the unprecedented second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, the Kabali star donated Rs 50 lakh in CM Relief Fund to help government in the fight against deadly virus. After making the donation, the actor addressed the media standing outside CM’s office.
Rajinikanth appealed to the people to strictly follow Covid restriction favoured by the government to control the pandemic.
This comes after Stalin’s appeal to people to donate money to the CM Relief Fund to fight the second wave of coronavirus.
On May 14, Rajinikanth’s daughter, Soundarya Rajinikanth, along with her husband, father-in-law Vanangamudi and sister-in-law visited CM Stalin at his office in Chennai to personally hand over the cheque of Rs 1 crore to him.
Announcing the news on Twitter, she wrote that her father-in-law S.S.Vanangamudi, husband Vishagan, his sister-in-law and she herself visited the Chief Minister’s office to hand over their contribution of Rs 1 crore for the chief minister’s #CoronaReliefFund.
On the work front, Rajinikanth recently wrapped up the Hyderabad schedule of his upcoming film Annaatthe. Directed by Siruthai Siva, Annaatthe stars Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Meena Khushbu, Prakash Raj and Soori in pivotal roles.The film will release in theatres on November 4.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has reported 12,450 fresh Covid-19 cases, 20,905 recoveries and 303 deaths since 8 pm on Sunday, the Union Health Ministry informed.
The Ministry on Monday said that the active number of Covid-19 cases in the state stands at 2,07,789. With the new fatalities, the Covid death toll in the state has mounted to 17,359.
