Rajkot: Former Saurashtra referee and BCCI referee Rajendrasinh Jadeja have died COVID-19, the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) said on Sunday. Jadeja was 66.
“Everyone at SCA is deeply saddened by the untimely death of Rajendrasinh Jadeja, one of Saurashtra’s most remarkable cricketers. He leaves early in the morning for a heavenly abode and fights hard Covid-19, ”The SCA said in a statement.
Rajendrasinh was one of the best right-arm midfielders and a remarkably versatile player.
He played 50 first-class matches and 11 list A matches and took 134 and 14 wickets respectively.
He scored 1,536 runs in first-class matches and 104 runs in the list of A-cricket.
Rajendrasinh serves as the official referee of the BCCI in 53 first-class matches, 18 list A matches and 34 T20s.
He was also selector, coach and team manager of Saurashtra Cricket Association.
Former BCCI and SCA secretary Niranjan Shah said: “Rajendrasinh Jadeja was the man with quality, style, ethics and great cricket ability. His dedication and contribution to cricket will be remembered forever. ”
SCA President Jaydev Shah also endorsed his passing, saying: ‘This is a huge loss for the world of cricket. Rajendra sir was one of the best men I have met. I’m happy to play a lot of games with him as our head coach, manager and mentor. ”
