Gurgaon: As many as 350 oxygen
beds, including 20 ICU beds, will be added in the city over the next two days in a move that is expected to address the severe shortage of hospital beds.
A few corporate firms, in collaboration with the district administration, will start three makeshift Covid care facilities in the city. A 100-bed Covid facility is ready at the Government Girls College in Sector 14. Another 100-bed field hospital, including 20 ICU beds and 80 oxygen beds, has been created at the Tau Devi Lal stadium. Further, 150 beds has been added to the Covid care centre in Sector 67 that became operational last Sunday.
For additional manpower, the district administration has tied up with an NGO called ‘Doctors For You’, which will provide around 150 healthcare professionals, including doctors, nursing staff and paramedics.
Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar will inaugurate the three makeshift Covid care centres in Gurgaon on Sunday and Monday.
A deputy CMO rank official from civil surgeon’s office will be the primary incharge of these centres. “The municipal corporation of Gurgaon will be responsible for disposal of bio-medical waste and sanitisation of the premises and the security at the facilities will be provided by the Gurgaon Police. The volunteers from Gurujal society and civil defense will also lend their support in these facilities. In case, the condition of any patient turned critical, he or she will be referred to the Civil Hospital,” the senior official said.
