UTP of Bhubaneswar special cell dies of covid

Bhubaneswar, May 16 (UNI) An Under Trial Prisoner (UTP) of the Special Jail Jharpara at Bhubaneswar died of Corona this morning while undergoing treatment.

DIG (Jail) Subhakanta Mishra said Tripaty Mohanty , the UTP was in jail in connection with a drug peddling case.

The UTP, he said, was also suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. He was admitted to Capital hospital here five days back and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital Cuttack.

The UTP was tested Covid Positive at SCB and then forwarded to Covid Hospital Cuttack.

He died this morning while undergoing treatment and his last rites were performed with all covid protocols, Mr Mishra said.
