Lets be honest, its a toss up between Charles, Gaethje, and Porier right now for king of 55.
Thing is, they can all beat each other. They could fight one night and you can replay the fight and it will be a different outcome.
It's gonna be a long time until we see another Khabib like figure whose was essentially a Floyd Mayweather like talent transferred to MMA.
When will the next guy whose been wrestling since he was 3 come along? That's a big if. If that person is able to deal with 2 back surgeries and 3 knee surgeries like Khabib was. You're not going to get to that level of skill without having to have some crazy fuking surgeries.
We saw once top prospect Kevin Lee (he was suppose to be THE guy to beat Khabib) crumble to 2+ knee surgeries and a shoulder surgery if I recall. A guy who dominated Barboza sent to the back of the line, never to be the same again.
Could it be Islam Mackachev? He is good, and he very well might hold the 55 belt at some point in time. But is he going to be a superstar? I dont feel like he is.
