CCpur records 3 deaths for 2nd day

Churachandpur, May 15 2021:
Churachandpur recorded 3 COVID-19 deaths for the second consecutive day today taking the death toll in the district since the start of the pandemic to 60.Random Rapid Antigen Tests of the population were conducted at two places within the town today and at least two persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 .
A COVID-19 Status Report of IDSP, CMO Churachandpur had yesterday reported three deaths including a person from Muallum in Singngat sub-division whose lifeless body was buried yesterday.
Today, as per the IDSP report, the district records three deaths again including one from Singngat sub-divisional HQs whose body was found at a waiting shed.
The deceased has been identified as Aheibam Bashi (28), son of (L) Aheibam Kumar of Heirangoithong, Imphal West.
He was found accompanied by a colleague named K Ojit Singh (23), of Langthabal Awang Leikai, Imphal West.
They were reportedly working as sub-contract labourers with the BIPL in road construction along NH-102B.Sources said, the dead body will be handed over to the family following Covid protocol with the permission of the Imphal West DC .
The corpse was found COVID positive after test at Community Health Centre Singngat.
The two other victims were all males, aged 61 and 49 from Simveng and Tuibong Kamdou Veng respectively.
With no sign of the Covid wave plateauing in the district, the Medical Department with the assistance of the district police has started conducting random RATs at two locations in the town today.
About 70 people were tested by way of random sampling at Chiengkonpang and Thangzam Road in New Bazar.
At least two persons have been found positive for Covid in the random tests.
The district police led by Additional SP (IUCAW) and OC Women PS assisted the medical team while conducting the random tests.
