Cyclone Tariffs: Severe Flood Situation Probably in Parts of Kerala, TN

New Delhi: With the cyclone Tauktae likely to intensify further, the Central Water Commission said on Sunday that a severe flood situation is likely in parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Central Water Commission tweeted: “Orange Bulletin No. 4 issued by #CWC #NewDelhi for #Kerala & #Tamilnadu is attached”.

‘The Manimala River at Kallooppara in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala flows in a severe situation at a level of 6.65 m, 0.65 m above the danger level. ” While the Kodaiyar River at the Thiruvarambu River in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari district flows at a level of 12.43 m, 0.43 m above its danger level, ” he added.

Earlier today, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that cyclone Tauktae had increased to a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’ over the east-central Arabian Sea and is likely to increase further over the next 24 hours.

Kerala is also likely to experience light to moderate rainfall in many places with heavy to very heavy falls in isolated places on May 16 and heavy falls in isolated places on May 17, according to the latest national bulletin issued by IMD.
