Faridkot, May 15

The School Education Department, which had cancelled the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB)’s Class X board exams due to Covid pandemic last month, on Saturday asked all PSEB-affiliated schools to tabulate the marks of the students on basis of their performance in various tests or exams throughout the year to prepare their final result.

As many students had not even appeared in the pre-board exams conducted by the schools, the school heads are directed to tabulate the marks of these students on the basis of any of the bi-monthly or any other exams conducted at school level in July, September, November and December last year, read a letter of the Director, State Council of Education and Research Training (SCERT), to all school heads on Saturday.

There was no exam of Class IX and X last year also due to pandemic. All Class IX students of PSEB-affiliated schools were promoted to Class X last year. Now, for the second consequent year, these students are set to qualify the Class X board exam without writing the papers.

“There was no need for the SCERT to seek this record from the schools as it was already submitted to the school education department by all schools after every pre-board exam,” said Prem Chawla, a senior functionary of the Government School Teachers’ Union. — TNS
