RAIPUR: Taking possibility of the third Covid wave into account, Chhattisgarh government directed health department to step up arrangements, especially for pregnant women and children. In this regard, Chhattisgarh helath minister TS Singh Deo, held discussions with senior departmental officers and experts from all medical colleges in state through virtual meeting. Singh Deo directed to ensure arrangements to tackle with the challenges of a possible third wave of corona.
RAIPUR: Taking possibility of the third Covid wave into account, Chhattisgarh government directed health department to step up arrangements, especially for pregnant women and children. In this regard, Chhattisgarh helath minister TS Singh Deo, held discussions with senior departmental officers and experts from all medical colleges in state through virtual meeting. Singh Deo directed to ensure arrangements to tackle with the challenges of a possible third wave of corona.
The health minister asked the experts of all medical colleges to make special arrangements for the treatment of pregnant women and children. He sought feedback and reviewed the problems arising after treatment of corona virus following consultation with the institutes and experts of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and others.
In order to stay alert and take timely action on covid related side effects and shortages in state, Singh Deo directed the health officials and supervisors of all medical colleges to analyse the facts and figures related to the current conditions, treatment and recovery of Covud patients and send their suggestions to the Health Department. Singh Deo directed all the medical colleges to provide information about the preparations and resources required for post COVID management.
“In view of possibility of outbreak of second wave of COVID-19, there is a general perception that the children and pregnanat women will be more vulnerable to its exposure. But as per data of the first and second wave, the pattern of the affected is almost the same,” said Singh Deo
Even though the number of corona infected of different age groups is higher in the second wave than in the first wave. There are also many misleading information among people about the use of medicines in the treatment of corona patients. Unnecessary excessive use of many medicines has also been noticed. Their side effects are also visible in patients hence people should be made aware on this, added minister.
Health Department Principal Secretary Dr Alok Shukla said in the meeting that a detailed analysis of the facts and figures related to the treatment of corona Infections is necessary. He asked all the medical college management to improve their arrangements for post Covid management in view of the present circumstances. Post Covid management of people recovering from Corona should be treated with medical audit of treatment and use of medicines.
AIIMS Raipur Director Dr Nitin M Nagarkar said that it is essential to follow the ICMR protocol in the management of Covid-19, which are revised keeping in view of the long lasting impact of mutant strains. Doctors should be cautious in using the drugs which are in trial phase.
