New Delhi, May 15

Indian woman cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy, who lost her mother and sister to Covid-19 in a period of a fortnight in April-May, was not named in the Indian team for the forthcoming tour of the UK.

Lisa Sthalekar, the former Australian women's team captain and now a commentator, is upset that the Indian cricket board (BCCI) has not handled the situation well, and said that a women’s player association is the need of the hour. The Pune-born Sthalekar claimed that the BCCI neither checked on Veda after tragedy struck her family nor communicated to her the decision to not consider her for UK tour. — TNS/Agencies
