THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state on Saturday reported 32,680 positive cases of Covid-19 taking the number of patients to 4,45,334.
To date, 16,66,232 persons have recovered from coronavirus in the state, including 29,442 on the day. After 1,22,628 samples were tested in a 24-hour period, the state's test positivity rate (TPR) was 26.65%. A total of 1,78,12,355 samples have been tested in the state so far.
Meanwhile, 96 recent deaths were confirmed as Covid-19-related taking the toll to 6,340. Among the new cases, 29,969 were infected through local contacts while 2,316 cases were of unknown sources.
At least 99 healthcare workers were infected on the day with Kannur district reporting 30 cases followed by Kasaragod, 13, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Wayanad, nine each, Ernakulam, eight, Thiruvananthapuram,
Kollam and
Kozhikode, five each, and Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki, two each.
Malappuram reported the highest number of cases 4,782 followed by Ernakulam, 3,744, Thrissur, 3,334, Thiruvananthapuram, 3,292, Palakkad, 3,165, Kozhikode, 2,966, Kollam, 2,332, Kottayam, 2,012,
Alappuzha, 1,996, Kannur, 1,652, Pathanamthitta, 1,119, Kasaragod, 847, Idukki, 737 and Wayanad, 702.
The number of patients who recovered on the day at the district level: Thiruvananthapuram, 2,912, Kollam, 1,765, Pathanamthitta, 976, Alappuzha, 1,509, Kottayam, 2,190, Idukki, 691, Ernakulam, 3,065, Thrissur, 2,742, Palakkad, 3,012, Malappuram, 3,669, Kozhikode, 4,725, Wayanad, 458, Kannur, 1,504 and Kasaragod, 224.
There are 10,31,271 persons under observation in the state, including 37,067 in isolation at hospitals. There are 852 hotspots in the state with the addition of nine places.
Kochi: The state government has requested the
Southern Naval Command (SNC) to depute a suitable technical team to audit government hospitals for the risk of fire hazards.
SNC has started the audit of hospitals in Ernakulam and will later extend its services to other districts. The Naval Base at Ezhimala will audit hospitals in North
