Gurgaon: Inoculations for the 18-44 age group will resume on Saturday after remaining suspended on Friday because of unavailability of vaccines.
Slots were opened, and booked quickly, for Saturday, which will see 37 session sites at government facilities that will start vaccinating people in the 18-44 age group from 11am. Two private hospitals – Max and Fortis – are giving vaccines.
However, Covishield reserves for the 45+ population at government sites are over, which will lead to a significant scaling down of inoculations for this segment on Saturday. There will be no Covishield sessions for this group and only four Covaxin sessions. The city normally vaccines the 45+ population at 41 session sites.
Officials said the vaccinations will be held with a batch of 10,000 Covishield doses that were to reach the city early on Saturday. “We will be getting a fresh consignment of Covishield on Saturday morning, which is why sessions are delayed by an hour as we will be distributing the vaccine in the morning to each centre,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon.
On Friday, a total of 807 recipients in the 18-44 bracket got their first jabs in the city. Of these, 691 were in private hospitals while 116 were shown to have taken the vaccines at government facilities.
