Bhubaneswar: Muted Eid for second year running

BHUBANESWAR: For the second year in a row Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with prayers at home in the middle of Covid pandemic. On Friday, people greeted friends and family virtually or maintaining social distancing norms.
“We offered prayer at home and prayed for peace, prosperity and well being of mankind,” said Maqsood Ali, a senior citizen in the city. “Eid is a special occasion to enjoy the taste of delicious food items like ‘seviyan’ and ‘biryani’,” said Abdul Jahangir, a businessman in the city.
Governor Ganeshi Lal and chief minister Naveen Patnaik in their separate messages offered warm greetings on the occasion of Eid and requested people to maintain social distancing norms.
Congress legislator Mohammed Moquim from Cuttack were among others who offered greetings and urged the community to celebrate the festival by following Covid protocol
