Unidentified miscreants shot dead two police officers in Jagraon of Ludhiana district

LUDHIANA: Unidentified miscreants shot dead two police officers after they were chasing them near new Grain Market in Jagraon.
Police identified the deceased as ASI Bhagwan Singh of Jagraon and ASI Dalwinderjit Singh of Sarali in Tarn Taran whereas their colleague Rajwinder Singh, a Home guard cop, escaped unhurt.
Police officials said that a team of Crime Investigating Agency (CIA) had got input that some liquor smugglers have brought consignment of liquor from outside. They added that acting on the input, CIA team reached new Grain market area in Jagraon around the evening and found a White I 10 and Canter (heavy vehicle) there.
Cops said that as the team insisted on checking vehicles, there was argument between cops and 3-4 persons in the car. They added that after the heated argument, the armed miscreants fired at police team before running away resulting in bullet injuries to two ASIs.
Police officials said that whereas ASI Bhagwan Singh died on the spot, the other officer died on way to hospital.
